Gerry Ranks AKA G STRING

Has been tearing up dancehalls from way back 
in the 80's. He first surfaced in the early 80s 
playing a set young Naza with the founders 
Brother Raga, mingling with the likes of UKs 
Barry G, and other MC's

Gerry soon realised his talents and began to 
develop the art of chatting over records and also 
wiring up sound systems and making speaker 
boxes, a talent he holds to this day.

Gerry Ranks AKA G STRING has been involved in 
soca music for over 23 years. As a teenager Gerry 
played the steel pans for a school band which led 
him to be offered the opportunity to play in London 
All stars, one of the Uks top steelbands.
During 1985-97 Gerry was also involved in the one 
unity soca sound which also played in the Carnival 

Gerrys skills include:

Radio presenting which has included work with 
Spectrum DAB radio and Radio Challenge, 
broadcasting the Soca review alongside co-presenter
Lady LIBRA from the Squeeze Dem Crew.

A producer managing his own pre production studio.

Gerry also runs a music project for young people 
offering them an opportunity to get involved in music 
at a grass roots level. 

A session drummer gigging with live bands and a 
four piece steelband. Gerry has been performing, 
Chatting on Soca raga beats since the 80s and 
has made two records to date, Serious times and 
Karate Chop. 

His first album GT with love was marketed solely 
in Guyana. Performing under the name G STRING 
this artist is surely one not to be missed.
Look out for the forthcoming album, faces due out 
in August.
